Happy New Year

We have enjoyed ringing in the New Year 2010 while staying in Miami, Florida. We had another nice day with just beautiful weather.

After enjoying a nice breakfast at the Hotel, we started our trek by foot from the hotel over to the Miami Cruise Ship Passenger Terminal. This involved a fairly long walk from where we are staying over to the bridge that connects this side of Miami to the cruise ship terminal. We walked over the bridge and then over towards the terminal. During the course of our walk we walked by the area of the New Years Eve celebration where there were remnants on the ground from the celebration. We also saw a couple of folks on the younger side who were sleeping on chairs and looked like they likely had too much to drink.

Afterwards, we walked over to the area need the American Airlines Arena where the Miami Heat play and then over to Bayside. As we mentioned yesterday, Bayside is a bubbling area with many restaurants and a variety of stores. We also took care of a few other errands along the way.

It is interesting to note that the Port of Miami is the largest cruise ship port in the world. By the end of 2007, this port accommodated almost 3.8 millions passengers. A significant amount of cargo also is imported/exported via this port. This port has seven passenger terminals and sits on over 518 acres.
When we embark the Serenity on January 4, there will be several other passengers ships in port including the Celebrity Century, Carnival Imagination, Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas, NCL Norwegian Sky and Oceania Regatta.

The highlight of today was the arrival of our Daughter Jennifer and our Son-In-Law Gui. We will be joined on Sunday by our Son Eric, and his fiance Kara.

After catching up with Jennifer and Gui we walked a few blocks to have dinner at an Italian Restaurant calledPerricone's Marketplace and everyone was pleased with their meal. Tomorrow we have a nice day planned.

OUR THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.......
