We enjoyed a wonderful evening on the ship last night.

Before dinner, we attended a 5:00 PM Matinee Production Showtime called Gotta Dance. As many times as we have seen this show, we continue to enjoy it. We love the songs, the dancing, and the music. There are a couple of dancers in the show who recently came on board. They have dance with Crystal before and they are quite good. All of this adds to the show and provides some subtle differences from show to show. The show was very well attended by guests who dine in both the early and late seating’s. Complimentary drinks were also provided during the show which was very nice.

After the show, we went to the Main Dining Room. As we mentioned in yesterdays post, the menu for the evening was quickly changed to a French Night Theme since we spent the day at sea rather than in port. The service, the food and the overall ambience of the Dining Room were outstanding. Complimentary wine was also offered throughout dinner to all guests, which was a very nice touch. We each enjoyed a wonderful salad and we chose a half portion of the Halibut and a half portion of the Sea Bream fish for our entrée and also had plenty of vegetables and berries for our dessert.

From the dining room we went to the Palm Court where we went to the Crystal Society Reception which is a reception held each cruise for all past Crystal Cruisers. Those guests with a significant number of cruises completed with Crystal were recognized and it was another wonderful reception. In addition to recognizing a couple of passengers who were celebrating major milestones they also mentioned the names of a few passengers who have also hit some nice milestones and one of them are friends John and Linda so we applauded when we heard their names mentioned. We are dining with them this evening. We sat with friends Bob and Glo and another nice couple Lorraine and Bill.

There was also another show later in the evening, which was scheduled two times for those who dine, early and late but we passed on that one as we had been up very early in the morning.

When we got back to our room we had the pleasure of moving the clocks back one hour so we would get an additional hour of sleep. J

We got up early this morning as we always do. Keith went directly to the Fitness Center for his workout on the Elliptical Machine and enjoyed another wonderful workout. After working out, he stopped by the Lido Café to get some coffee to bring back to the room. He was the first person at the Fitness Center and before long fellow passengers John and Brian were also working out on the Elliptical Machine’s. Keith was able to watch the PBS news hour, which was nice, as he has come to really enjoy that show. Anne Marie took the morning off.

Like clockwork, there was a knock at the door at 8:00 AM and it was our wonderful butler Alexander with our breakfast. We spoke with Alexander for a few minutes and then enjoyed a great breakfast. We watched the Crystal Cruises Daily Morning Show hosted by our outstanding Cruise Director and World Cruise Hostess and Keith and we even got answered one of the trivia questions correctly.

After breakfast Keith went to the salon for his final haircut of this World Cruise Adventure. We have both used the same stylist for the entire cruise and the same person we used in 2008. She has been great and we truly have enjoyed talking with her as she has cut our hair these past several months.

During Captain Glenn’s morning talk from the Bridge the Captain updated everyone on the ships position and the weather. Captain Glenn shared another wonderful thought for the day, which goes like this. “Sometimes I would rather be sorry for something I did than sorry for something I didn’t do.”

We took care of a few errands in the morning.

Starting at around 11:00 AM we entered the Bosporus Strait for the second time during this leg of the World Cruise and we took in all of the beautiful scenery all around us. This is one of the most beautiful areas of the world we have sailed. The weather was quite nice and there was far less traffic in the way of ships that one might have adding to a very nice sailing. As we viewed the scenery all around us we listened to the wonderful narration given by Naki Ataman who is also a wonderful entertainer who performed last evening. He pointed out all of the areas on both sides of the ship and also provided a wealth of information about current day and the history of Istanbul.

We had lunch at the Lido Café as we prepared to go ashore in Istanbul. We believe this is our forth visit to Istanbul and we have seen all of the sites in this beautiful city.

We made arrangements last evening with Bob and Glo to take the complimentary shuttle into Istanbul. This is their first time here and they are on an all day tour tomorrow. So, the four of us took the shuttle which dropped us off right new the Grand Bazaar and we explored this bazaar with them. We have been to the Bazaar two other times and the last time was just a couple of years ago.

This evening we will dine in Silk Road with friends John and Linda.

The following is a quote which has special meaning for us.

TODAY’S THOUGHT OF THE DAY…..

“A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.” “John Fitzgerald Kennedy”
